Auntie Sue's Thank You

When we were in England earlier this month, we spent the day in Yorkshire with my Auntie Sue, Uncle Richard and cousin, Kate. Sue is my mum's sister and we all LOVE going to see her, there's always bustling in the kitchen, home made cakes and chutneys and the teapot is always full of Yorkshire Tea (what else?). Our visit was no exception, she laid on a fabulous spread for us all and we thoroughly enjoyed our day.

This new stamp set (available from the Seasonal Catalogue on 1st August) "Perfectly Preserved" really reminds me of my Grannie, and mum & Auntie Sue who are a chip off the old block, so to speak. There are always home made jams and chutneys on the go in their kitchens ... so the perfect 'thank you' for Auntie Sue was this card. I hope she loves it! All the inspiration was taken from the card in the catalogue (p. 29). I'd better get it straight into the post today, it takes a week to get home!

Recipe
Stamps : Perfectly Preserved
Ink : Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock : Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade, Shimmery White, Orchard Harvest DSP

Here are some pics of our lovely day in Yorkshire.

Heavenly, isn't it? That's my daughter, Sarah, riding and my sister (another Sarah) with Kate's children, Ollie and Minna.

This is today's sketch challenge over on SCS. I like the simplicity of the layout, but it ended up being quite 'busy' on my card because of the patterns I chose from this DSP pack "Snow Festival". I used lots of new product which will be available on 1st August (next week, yikes!); the green wool sweater trim, the silver designer frame and mini brads, the mitten punch ... all too cute for words! Here's my card and some close-ups so you can see the dazzling details on the mitten end.

Recipe
Stamps : Make a Mitten, Petite Pairs
Ink : Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple
Cardstock : Shimmery White, Soft Suede, Snow Festival DSP, Gumall Green
Accessories : Gumball Green Sweater Trim, Flourish Designer Frames, Mini Brads, Mitten Builder Punch, Dazzling Details, Word Window and Curly Label Punches, Dimensionals

.... and one more thing ~ this is Rhaegar my daughter's new puppy. He's a Smooth Haired Collie and 12 weeks old. We picked him up the day after we got back from England and he's settling in well. Can you see how much Sarah loves him from that expression on her face? Too cute! (His ears are taped over and braced, she's hoping to show him so his ears have to conform ... in case you were wondering, and no, they don't bother him!)

She's been in the hospital so we thought she could do with some cheering up. We're going to send photos of our new puppy along with this card. Hope it puts a smile on her face :)

It's CLUB time!

Club is this weekend. Here are the three 'fold' techniques we'll be making. I would like to thank LeeAnn Greff for the great 'pop up' birthday card tutorial. The cascading card was an idea I found on Pinterest from Ginger (stampingginger) and the third project was from a tutorial written by my dear friend, Patty Bombyk. Thank you ladies for helping me with some inspiration this month.

Postage Due Swap

Right before my trip to England, I was in a swap so I thought I'd share what I made. I used Postage Due. There's quite a lot going on with this card, not my usual style, but I like how it turned out!

The main image was inked up in Crumb Cake and then I took markers and 'thumped' some colour onto the images. The postage stamps used the coordinating postage punch which looks really great! I enjoyed putting this one together.

ETA : Barbara left a comment on 'thumping'. Here's a link to the technique. Hope that helps, Barbara!

Recipe
Stamps : Postage Due, Lovely Little Labels
Ink : Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, More Mustard, Island Indigo
Cardstock : Naturals Ivory, Island Indigo, More Mustard
Accessories : Tulip Border Embossing Folder, Little Labels Punch Pack, Island Indigo Ribbon, Stampin' Write Markers

It's Been a While

I've been away ~ in case you hadn't noticed the silence from my blog! I had a wonderful trip home to my Mum & Dad's in England and upon returning to Michigan, we picked up Sarah's new puppy so it's been slightly chaotic in the Fewkes household! I have Club this week though, so back to stamping I must go! I feel very rusty, it's amazing how a month long break from getting inky can affect you!

Here are some pics of my trip. Stamping posts will resume tomorrow ~ thanks for indulging me :)

The first thing my sister wanted to see was the new Stampin' Up Seasonal Catalogue!
My Mum, me and my Sister
My daughter, Sarah, in the potting shed at Haddon Hall, Derbyshire
