Paper Tole Technique

Good Morning! Today's Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC) over on Splitcoast Stampers is to make a card using a technique called Paper Tole. Basically paper tole is the art of layering images to create dimension. I decided to use my Birthday set from My Favourite Things. I stamped the image 3 times, coloured the base image and the remaining 2, cut out the lady and her right arm only, and the cake. Then I layered the dress & arm over the base with SU mini glue dots. Next I layered the cake twice in the same way. I didn't layer the candles because they're way too small and way too fiddly! LOL! I also made the sentiment with my SU 2 oval shape punches and added a little ribbon.
Recipe:
Stamps: MFT You Take the Cake, PTI Mixed Messages
C/Stock: PTI Stamper's Select White & Berry Sorbet, SU Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Copic Sketch Markers, SU Oval Punches, Organdy Ribbon, SU Mini Glue Dots

CC159

Good Morning! It's colour challenge day over on Splitcoast Stampers. Today Emily asked us to use Soft Sky, Basic Gray (or Black) and Whisper White. I decided to make this quick and easy little card which is 4.25" square with lots of layers and a cuttlebugged background. The only thing a little different is the kisses border along the bottom which is made with the SU corner rounder. Cambria Turnbow has a great tutorial on how to do it here: http://cambriaturnbow.blogspot.com/2007/11/build-flowerbuild-brad.html

ENGAGEMENT

So the big news of the Easter weekend for my family is that my cousin Kate got engaged on Good Friday ... everyone's so excited! I decided to make Kate and Matthew a stationary set with little monogrammed notecards to use. Nichole Heady over at Papertrey Ink sells some cute little heart shaped tins and Amy Rysavy at http://www.prairiepaperandink.typepad.com/ made a gorgeous set of notecards to go in hers. I decided to CASE Amy's and I came up with this.

Recipe

Papertrey Ink Heart Shaped Tin
SU DSP Afternoon Tea
SU Double Stitched Ribbon, Soft Sky
SU flower punches and Primas
5"x3" notecards in PTI's white c/stock
Stamps by PTI, initials, Ambassador and frame, Borders & Corners Square

I also made a congratulations card for Kate and Matthew. I made it square using PTI's white c/stock along with SU's Mellow Moss and SU's ring from 'Fairytale Wedding'. I used SU's coordinating circle punches along with SU's Scallop punch and a strip of ribbon. Easy Peasy! Dazzling Diamonds made the ring come to life! CONGRATULATIONS KATE

Off to the SCS MI Stamping Get-Together

I can't believe how quickly the time flies. I'm going to the Splitcoast Stampers MI stamping weekend on Friday! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone after spending so long 'chatting' in cyberspace! In preparation, I've put together 52 cards to swap. I laid some of them out on the table and took a photo. The other photograph is for my Secret Sister ... she's getting a coffee mug which I've decorated for her. Hope she likes it!
